THE CLEANSE…DAY ONE!
February 16th, 2010Well – I made it through day one! For those that don’t follow our Twitter or don’t share a desk with me (I pity Mon and Simone this week!), on Monday I signed up for the Urban Remedy ‘cleanse’ – a three-day detox that sees me drinking six natural juices a day. And that’s it. No food, coffee, lollies, cereal – just juice!
My three packages of juices were delivered to my door on Sunday evening and it dawned on me how much I’m going to miss food! After a light evening meal of sushi and green tea I hit the hay looking forward to my three-day body renewal.

Monday morning and I wake up feeling hungry (nothing new there) – but the cleanse dictates that breakfast is a cup of lemon and water. Yum. I head to the office and literally count down the minutes until 9am and I can crack open my first juice. A green looking concoction packed with apple, lemon, celery, cucumber, it helps me ride out the hunger and leaves me feeling very healthy and self-righteous, if a little unsatisfied.

From there I get into the whole cleansing groove – copious amounts of water, a juice every two hours, and a green tea in between. Any casual onlooker would think I had major bladder problems – I’m guessing the regular toilet trips are all part of the ‘cleanse’ experience. I had a low moment at lunchtime when partition partner Ange brought over a delicious-smelling wrap, but self control and commitment to the cleanse kept me going – even when Simone commented that my third juice looked like ‘a bottle of mud’!
The afternoon was a lot easier and I realised that mornings are when I eat the most – and I probably eat for the sake of eating rather than because I’m hungry! It was a beautiful evening so I took Urban Remedy’s advice and ‘fed my soul’ with a gentle stroll home – after all, I wouldn’t need any time to prepare the night’s feed! I supped on the final juice of the day which was a thick, creamy number packed with cashews, cinnamon, protein, and natural goodness to get me through the night.
I spent the rest of my evening with a green tea clasped in my hand (needed something to keep me occupied!) and woke up this morning with slight hunger pangs, but nothing as bad as yesterday. Juice number one has hit the spot and I’m ready to take on Day Two! More updates to come….
