MUSIC AND FASHION HITS HACKNEY FOR RADIO 1′S BIG WEEKENDJune 27th, 2012
If you’re not in London at the moment people. you are missing out on the most amazing few months the city has ever seen! With the Olympics just around the corner, the country’s biggest station Radio 1 hosted a weekend-long free party on Hackney marshes in the shadow of the sporting stadium, with tickets available to nearby residents and a line-up which far outshone any major festival this summer.
A whole host of stars performed over two days this weekend, including Jay-Z (who brought Rihanna, Kanye and M.I.A out on stage with him), Lana Del Ray, Tinie Tempah, Florence and the Machine, Jessie J, David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia, and many more. Rih Rih closed the weekend with an awesome set on Sunday evening, bringing back her mentor Jay-Z and belting out ‘We Found Love’ to the crowd of thousands as the sun set on London town.
And the stars pulled out their most fabulous ensembles for the evening – check out our favourite looks:
Santigold making good use of the wind machine with her fringing and tailstream!
The UK’s answer to Rihanna, Rita Ora, working the pyjama look.
Rihanna herself looking anything but stage-shy in a studded leather jacket, animal print tee and what can only be described as pants with cycling-short style mesh over the top. Love her take on a festival ensemble!
And our favourite, New York rapper Azealia Banks trussed up in black mesh with ‘eyelash’ sunglasses from one of our favourite London accessory labels Tatty Devine.
This is just the start of summer in London – we’ll keep you posted with all the style news from the city this season!
