CONVERSE X THE GORILLAZ CHUCK TAYLOR ALL STAR COLLECTION – OFFICIAL AUSTRALIAN LAUNCH
March 9th, 2012

Sydney’s LUXE Studio’s warehouse-eaque space was transformed last night into a Converse x Gorillaz wonderland to launch their latest collab. And the Betties along with the hip, electic crowd of over 300 had a kicking good time!!
The early morning downpour did nothing to dampen this crowd’s spirits; various acts from the Future Music Festival lineup including band members from Friendly Fires turned up to party, model Tiah Eckhardt dropped by for a dance, skater Corbin Harris mingled with the Converse team, Sydney models, stylists and bloggers were out in force, and of course the majority of the party-goers were decked out in Converse Chuck Taylors.
The crowd was faced with giant works of art depicting the Gorillaz band members on entrance. The DJ decks were manned by international act James Murphy and Pat Mahoney (LCD Soundsystem), and the limited edition Gorillaz-designed Converse displayed in glass podiums added the perfect touch in creating the ambiance . The crowd who busted out in their Cons also had the chance to be the ‘fifth’ member of the Gorillaz for the night, with one wall dedicated to a display of the band and our fav snappers Life Without Andy capturing shots of guests with the band.
The party kicked off in true Converse style, with drinks including Jack Daniels and coke, Budweiser, Smirnoff, Feisty and Santa Vittoria all free flowing throughout the night, and food catered by Sydney rice-paper roll legends Miss Chu.
Even an impromptu visit from the fire brigade – on alert after an alarm was set off during the evening – didn’t stop the party, and the last revellers left the venue way after 8.30pm !! In true Converse style it was a ngiht to remember !!
The Converse x Gorillaz Chuck Taylor All Star collection is available in Australia from 10 March, and the range also launches with a Converse “Three Artists. One Song” music collaboration featuring the Gorillaz, Andre 3000 and James Murphy. XX
