The one man fashion force that is photographer Bill Cunningham will, on the 23^rd of April 2012, be awarded The Carnegie Hall Media of Excellence at a gala benefit held at The Waldorf-Astoria. After 50 years of documenting New York’s social landscape and what seems to be a countless number of images published in The New York Times. Bill will, for at least one night, be the subject of the lens. This prestigious award not only honours his dedication to the fashion world but also his philanthropic contributions.

Oscar Del la Renta who is currently a Gala Chair on Carnegie Hall’s Board of Trustees  believes that “More than anyone else in the city, he has the whole visual history of the last 40 or 50 years of New York. It’s the total scope of fashion in the life of New York.”
