Freshly laid..or rather freshly made..Easter eggs

Friday, March 30th, 2012

In the spirit of all things Easter the Betties are LOVING these designer Easter Eggs.
Our FAV is the David Hockney inspired chocolate egg. The egg is filled with divine salted caramels and made as a limited edition. Unfortunately they can only be purchased in store in the UK’s Selfridges and Harrods only but we can still admire from a distance right?!

Our latest obsession to date are the roomy, oversized, timeless, slouchy-style carry-alls from label M&M Sydney.
Designed by leading interior designer, Marco Meneguzzi (whose work features in some of the best houses from Sydney to Melbourne to Los Angeles) and Nicky Valmorbida, heiress to the Valmorbida empire.
They are hemp-like in texture with a fine cotton striped lining, they are easy-to-wear and come in a rainbow of colours – navy, pink, lilac, orange, khaki, green, yellow, turquoise and stone. The perfect pop of colour for every stylish outfit.
We also die for the canvas sleeve pouches, which can be used to keep your ipad or laptop in or even your magazines.
These canvas carry-alls are timeless and we are loving!!

NYC Pad!

Tuesday, March 27th, 2012

After my love for shoes and bags I have an undenying love for home furnishings and decor! When I walk into a furniture shop 3 hours seems to miraculously get the better of me. So when I laid eyes on pictures of the impressive NYC digs of Richard Christensen my jaw dropped onto my key board!

1

Richard Christiansen is the founder and creative director of Chandelier Creative, a full-service creative and content agency based in New York City and has worked for the likes of Versace, Givenchy, NARS, Lane Crawford, Orient Express, Four Seasons, Bulgari, Old Navy, Gap, Target, Club Monaco, Calvin Klein, and Gerlain just to name a few! Christiansen’s impressive pad is located right in the heart of the Big Apple on Grand Street in China Town and inspired by a vibe that can only be described as a Donatella Versace designed opium den in Chinatown. So basically a pad purely for entertaining. Did I mention the bedroom is home to 21 exotic fish?! Check out more pictures below…

AUSTRALIAN DESIGNERS CREATE CHARITY UMBRELLAS FOR CASTLE TOWERS

Monday, March 26th, 2012

Much as we love the sunny Sydney weather, we’ve found ourselves wishing for rain this week – just so that we can bag one of the fabulous designer umbrellas on display at Castle Towers shopping centre!

In celebration of the launch of Winter Fashion at the Towers, top Australian designers Alex Perry, Manning Cartell, Leona Edmiston and Jayson Brunsdon have collaborated with Castle Towers to create one-off exclusive designer umbrellas, to support local children’s charity Reach for the Rainbow. Each designer has created a one of a kind umbrella, custom made by the labels’ design teams. The umbrellas represent their latest Autumn Winter 2012 hero collection pieces.

Alex Perry Umbrella

Alex Perry’s umbrella (above) is a gorgeous print of striking blue. He said: “I wanted to use the fabric from one of my collections this season that really was appropriate for this design, and I think I have found it! I am very happy and honoured to be involved in this campaign as it is for a very worthy cause and this initiative is a unique way to spread the message.”

Leona Edmiston umbrella

Edmiston added, “There is nothing like a beautiful, colourful umbrella to brighten up a dreary day! And who hasn’t been caught in the rain wishing they had such a stylish umbrella”. Her umbrella fits perfectly with her bright, feminine designs (above).

The four one-off umbrellas are available to bid for at the VIP Charity Auction evening, hosted by Leona Edmiston and the Manning Cartell sisters, this Thursday 29 March 2012.

The charity, Reach for the Rainbow has been established to ‘change little lives’ by providing support to early intervention services for children in the Hills District. The Charity will not only provide funding to services, but will also help establish new services where there is a need and, importantly, fund much-needed purpose-built infrastructure in the local area to support the operation of the services. Together, the goal is to ensure that there are world class services available for all disabilities and delays experienced by babies and preschoolers in the Hills District.

We’re all wishing for rain here at SB!

DAY 1:

Thursday, March 22nd, 2012

So, today was my first day interning at Sweaty Betty and to be honest one day a week really isn’t enough!

I had so much fun and felt instantly welcomed into the Betties!!

I spent most of my day in the showroom with Lauren who opened my eyes to the non-stop PR world of fashion, beauty and lifestyle. I think I can now say that I understand the term ‘non-stop’ because everybody works incredibly hard, all day long.

Today, I was exposed to some gorgeous garments and some very cool brands such as Converse, Levis and Rachel Gilbert. I even had the privilege of attending the Jack Daniels event this afternoon, where I had the opportunity to meet and listen to Master Distiller, Jeff Arnett.

MS_QMS3704

Jeff gave us a taste of Jack Daniels with nibbles to compliment. I can admit that I was never a big whiskey fan but after today I think I might have a taste for it! Jeff taught us how to enjoy it and even offered us a brand new product which will be hitting the shelves in June called ‘Tennessee Honey’, It is DIVINE! Recommended in coffee, topped with whipped cream. YUM!

MS_QMS3712

He also advised that Jack Daniels mixed with apple juice and/or ginger ale makes an elegant, girly drink which I am more then excited to try on my next night out!

MS_QMS3727Jeff Arnett

The experience I had today was more then I could of ever asked for as an intern so I would just like to take this opportunity to say thank you Sweaty Betty for taking me on and I can’t wait till next Wednesday when I return!!

VOLVO OCEAN RACE – STOP 5 / AUCKLAND

Monday, March 19th, 2012

It was the 11th March that saw the boats into the Auckland shores, a production so close to that of the Olympic Games.

IMG00335-20120317-1243

My office for the next three days went by the name of the ‘Black Pearl ‘and was situated somewhere not far from the Volvo Ocean Race base camp Warf.
Camper together with Emirates team New Zealand have enlisted 11 of the most courageous men to take on the round-the-world 9 month race which started in Alicante,Spain and end in Galway, Ireland. The race will stop over in 9 different ports around the world each with a 92 day race period in between.

IMG00275-20120316-1223

The Auckland stopover was something very close to Camper‘s heart as 7 of the boys found themselves in their home land and the half Spanish and half New Zealand boat returned to the land of its creation.
The weekend saw the boats race in two race village competitions, an In Port race and a Pro Am race – Camper took out the In Port race finding themselves in third position on the ranking board. This race is addictive and will have you crazily obsessed with checking updates. For people who had absolutely no interest in sailing the Betties are now sailing and VOR OBSESSED!  and if the whole sailing thing does not really float your boat, meet Mike the bowman/ boat captain.

Keep track of Camper’s movements with live updates on the Volvo Ocean Race website – www.volvooceanrace.com
It will sure be making you see red, next stop Rio, Brazil.
The Betties have fallen in love with team Camper with Emirates team New Zealand.
