A night for film or fashion?!

Wednesday, February 29th, 2012

The Oscars are a night to celebrate the triumphs of film, but we all know many tune in to see the fashion! Looks like the movie ‘The Artist’ cleaned up in the awards side of things but our eyes were far more focused with the winning outfits on the red carpet. This year there was a lot of black, white, cream and sparkle and sadly not so much colour but those who did go for a more classic look did not disappoint!

There were no arguments when it came to how amazing Ange looked, so stunning in her Atelier Versace gown with the sexy split in the side showing her ever so long leg.

Octavia Spencer was understatedly gorgeous in her Tadashi Shoji gown that really complimented her figure and made her look so elegant – definitely a fav of mine!

There has been a big huff and puff about Gwyneth in her white Tom ford gown with attachable cape, some don’t dig it but we love it! The capped sleeves and the masculinity of the dress are showstopping, with or without the cape this outfit was something fresh and the Betties enjoyed it!

We are big fans of Ellie Saab and Milla Jovovich looked amazing in her white one shoulder number, the red lipstick and simple clutch top the outfit nicely – a certain winner!

E! presenter Giuliana Rancic also wowed us in her Tony Ward gown. The detail on the shoulders and down her waist highlighted her hour glass figure and made her stand out from the crowd of glittering beauties.

Last but not least there was Stacy Keibler! There is no doubt Stacy Keibler had the arm candy which was the envy of so many women around the world, being George Clooney’s girlfriend would have its perks that’s for sure and she dressed appropriately for the title of Hollywood’s ‘golden couple’ in her gold Marchesa dress.

DvF for DC!

Wednesday, February 29th, 2012

Diane von Furstenberg is the latest designer to jump on the band wagon with Diet Coke to create a special edition Diet Coke bottle! Most of us Betties can’t get through a day without an ice cold DC so we are thrilled about the collab…and it’s for an even better cause…100% of all proceeds benefit the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health.

These chic Diet Coke bottles don’t actually contain any Coke but they sure do look great and will prove to be a perfect and iconic gift for every fashionista! A set of four bottles cost $30 which is little to pay considering what they stand for and how fabulous they will look on all our mantelpieces!!!

DvF has again shown that she can do no wrong, with the designs of the Coke bottles oozing her flawless style. The aluminium bottles showcase her distinguished prints in black and red. DvF now joins the ranks of Karl Lagerfeld, Roberto Cavalli and Missoni as certified Diet Coke designers!

The bottles are available in DvF stores until the end of February – today! Or online…so don’t miss out! Check out www.DvF.com

But it doesn’t stop there! DvF had stunning actress, Minka Kelly walk in her dress down the Red Dress runway in NYC on Feb 8th to support heart disease awareness and throughout the month normal diet coke bottles will be graced with an extra special design by DvF – a stick figure painting a large, red heart. WE LOVE IT!

THE FABERGE BIG EGG HUNT

Faberge, the most luxurious of Russian brands famed for their ornamental eggs, is celebrating Easter in the most stylish way imaginable with  The Big Egg Hunt in London.

The brand has hidden over 200 very special eggs, designed by architects, jewellers and creatives, across the streets of the capital, and is urging people in the capital to find as many as possible – some of them are hidden in eggsceptional places! The competition also features the search for the Diamond Jubilee Egg (valued at over $150,000) and the chance to bid for one of the eggs at the Selfridges Big Egg Shop.

Strolling down the Kings Road in Chelsea this weekend I spotted quite a few eggs, including the hatching dinosaur design, a union jack egg, and a beautiful white egg in the window of Hugo Boss.

OTTOLENGHI LONDON…CAKES TO MAKE YOU SWOON

Monday, February 27th, 2012

ottolenghi

I have been harbouring a foodies secret over the last few months, but I can’t keep it to myself any longer. During one Saturday morning shopping trip in Knightsbridge I stumbled upon a bakery that truly blew my mind; Ottolenghi.

Israeli-born chef Yotam Ottolenghi has already made waves in the UK food industry with his lavish vegetarian dishes, recorded for fans in the book ‘Plenty‘, and his deli’s/bakeries/restaurants dotted around London’s most affluent areas have a loyal following among high class residents. The bright white interiors, knowledgeable and chic staff, extravagant window displays and seasonal menu are all fantastic…but it’s the cakes that really set this spot apart from the competition.

Choose from lemon and polenta sponge topped with zingy zest, sticky prune and apple swirls ready to be dipped in to coffee, peanut butter and chocolate sandwich biscuits which are so moreish, and the biggest croissants/pain au chocolats I have ever encountered!

My perfect Saturday started at Ottelenghi this weekend; sharing the large table with an Australian entrepreneur and a couple on holiday from Saudi Arabia, we drank good coffee, filled up on cakes, and watched the beautiful people of Knightsbridge pass by – followed by a shopping trip to Harrods of course!

If you’re heading to London soon, be sure to check it out – Ottolenghi has four stunning branches around the city.

Meet Ben Frost

Thursday, February 23rd, 2012

Andy Warhol fans, eat your hearts out!

Fabulous Australian artist Ben Frost is recognised for his kaleidoscopic Pop Art paintings that scream post-modern art or ‘Paste Modernism’ in Ben’s case. Ben’s artistic flare is inspired by challenging mainstream iconography from advertising and entertainment and then he creates bold, controversial art that oozes excitement!

The quirky artist has been all over the shop in the last 10 years…exhibiting his artwork throughout Australia, London, New York, Berlin, Amsterdam, Beijing and the list goes on! Apart from painting private interiors, night club walls and public areas Frost has appeared in countless mags including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and OK!

In 2006 Ben co-founded the online art portal – StupidKrap.com and runs the international paste-up event ‘Paste Modernism’.  As well as being the artist Ben has even been the model – with Anthony Lister painting his portrait in January for the Archibald Prize – good luck!

He has been living in Sydney operating StupidKrap Studios (love the name!) that supports and promotes around 10 emerging Australian artists.

We are happy to say that Ben has 24 new artworks that we cannot wait to check out!
