It’s the most decadent party of 2011 and the prime spot to experience Sydney Harbour’s stunning firework display; and The Island has the final few coveted tickets for glamorous party-goers.
Prestigious pop-up venue The Island has been floating beside Sydney Opera House since the start of Spring, hosting luxury weekend parties and private events including Cleo Magazine’s annual swimsuit party. The hosts are throwing their biggest night on 31 December, joining forces with Surry Hills’ favourite Toko restaurant for an evening of gourmet food, fine champagne, and delicious cocktails.

From 6.30pm on New Year’s Eve, guests will enjoy welcome harmonies from a string quarter, a mouth-watering Toko menu including Salmon Tartare Miso Wasabi washed down with Moet and Dom Perignon, and beats from Sydney’s finest DJ’s to kick off the dancing once the clock strikes midnight.
The crowd of a select 200 will have no need to worry about gatecrashers – guests will be chauffeured to and from their waterside pickup by private boat or water taxi in the style of St Tropez’ top beachside bars.

Limited number of tickets left priced $795 – visit http://theislandsydney.com.au/ for more details.

Fashion -forward ex-Paris Vogue editor, Carine Roitfeld’s book “Irreverent” has just made it’s way to the top of the Betties Christmas wish list!

Roitfeld is famous for her impeccable styling and controversial fashion editorials and her new book showcases all of this! The book is a 368-page album filled with her editorials and family photographs culled over her 30-year career. Roitfeld says, ‘It marks 30 years. The end of a chapter is a good moment – and they have been ‘belles annees’, beautiful years, when I have succeeded in work and with family.’ Serious inspiration for every fashionista!

Among images from some of her most famous, and most provocative, shoots—including Eva Herzigova posing with a lot of bloody boeuf for The Face in 1997 (see pic below) and last year’s plastic-surgery story with Crystal Renn!

Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana aka Dolce & Gabbana can now add jewelry designer to their repertoire – the dynamic Italian design duo have JUST released their first ever fine jewelry line and it has some of the betties absolutely drooling! The line is inspired by tradition and superstition. The line is adorned with visions of angels, rosaries and the Madonna. There are bracelets, necklaces and pendants constructed of yellow, white and rose gold, rubies, sapphires and pearls all on Byzantine chains! Tres chic! “A statement of faith, a wave of passion, or a celebration of love: the most precious feature of any jewel is the emotion it stirs in the woman who wears it,” says a statement on Dolce & Gabbana’s website.

The line is intended to symbolize the emotions that a woman feels while she wears the jewelry it exudes sex and passion with a cross between holy and erotic. This is portrayed in the scandalous campaign video of Italian models Bianca Balti and Simone Nobili. Balti wears the chandelier earrings in the video as the scenes tell a story of a passionate affair between the two young lovers. See below . . .
I’d be happy if Santa slipped the gorgeous bracelet in my stocking this Christmas!!!

The one man fashion force that is photographer Bill Cunningham will, on the 23rd of April 2012, be awarded The Carnegie Hall Media of Excellence at a gala benefit held at The Waldorf-Astoria. After 50 years of documenting New York’s social landscape and what seems to be a countless number of images published in The New York Times. Bill will, for at least one night, be the subject of the lens. This prestigious award not only honours his dedication to the fashion world but also his philanthropic contributions.

Oscar Del la Renta who is currently a Gala Chair on Carnegie Hall’s Board of Trustees believes that “More than anyone else in the city, he has the whole visual history of the last 40 or 50 years of New York. It’s the total scope of fashion in the life of New York.”

Vogue has released a special edition supplement: Vogue Best Dressed: The Ultimate Guide to Style, which has just hit stands. This amazing issue sees Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen grace the cover as they are celebrated as the ‘Best Dressed Sisters”.

“What can be definitively said is that minimalist, nuanced, maximalist, iconic, chic, cool, instinctive and creative don’t do justice to how Ashley and Mary-Kate have long put themselves together, in a manner that is constantly unique, inspiring and ever evolving.”

Other stylish sisters paid homage to include Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge & Pippa Middleton, Dakota & Elle Fanning, Beyonce & Solange Knowles, Virgine, Jenna, Prisca & Claire Courtin-Clarins, Ruby & Lily Aldridge, Poppy & Cara Delevingne, Bianca & Coco Brandolini, Charlotte Gainsbourg & Lou Doillon, and Rooney & Kate Mara.

‘It’s been a year of sisters, most famously with Catherine and Pippa Middleton,’ said Mark Holgate, Vogue Fashion News Director and Editor of the best dressed issue.

Next Stop – Camper Conference. Palma Majorca, Spain
Ola!,
A 30 hour plan ride landed me in Majorca Spain for the T75 Camper collection conference.
As I walked through the passenger terminal to collect my bags I was welcomed with open arms and a by our always smiley and gorgeous (and newly engaged) UK Betty, Amy.
We gathered our things and off we went into Majorca town in bound to our hotel, we chatted about the recent Betty adventure to New York which Amy & Mon had just returned from a few days before. Feeling very jealous I looked over my shoulder and out the window to the most beautiful picture perfect scenery you can ever imagine- Jealousy erased!
It was a rush into town before the first night of conference, off we ran into the beautiful lanes into old Majorca Town surrounded by all the beautiful cathedral and sand stone buildings. I honestly do not think I could snap away any faster or take any more photos, this place is just so beautiful. And then. The biggest Zara you have ever seen followed by the biggest H&M so the Betties do what the Betties do best and that’s shop up a storm, and that’s just what we did.
Day # 1 of conference, 200 Camperians from around the world gathered into a ball room surrounded by 3 gigantic projector screens. We were welcomed and introduced to the T75 2012 Autumn/ Winter collection, and what a collection it is. Stay tuned to see what Camper has installed but all I can reveal is that you will be seeing these designs making footprints in the Betty Office. We also were updated on the movements on the Camper Volvo Ocean race and its developments, now for all of you who may not be aware – Camper along with Emirates have taken part in the 2011 Volvo Ocean Race, there is so much devotion and love involved and this is clear as the team has been in the lead throughout the race which started in October 2011. I have a new obsession now and that is checking the position of the boat like every few hours – and if you ask the girls I have not stopped talking about the boat, the team and everything involved. The boat will have a stopover in Auckland in March 2012 and I couldn’t tell you how excited I am.
Day #2, it was PR madness as we covered everything in 2011 and to come in 2012 – including our input into the culling of the 200+ style collection, Amy & I were going a little bit crazy having to cut some of the amazing styles out but the others were just too good! We then met with Jack Sparrow (the pirate), Jack talked us through the new partnership and collaboration with Camper x Gore-Tex that will be included in the T75 family. Once again Camper has exceled all expectations as I was chosen to put the shoes to test with having my shoes put into a temperature machine that dropped from minus degree temperatures to well over desert weather and guess what I felt through the shoes?? NOTHING!
Day #3, VOR VOR VOR – it was a day dedicated to the Volvo Ocean Race, when I said there is endless amounts of love and dedication devoted to this race, I really really meant it! There is a team that spend all of their waking and sleeping hours too just planning and ploting for the race ahead.again all the Camperians gathered to what we had been told was a surprise, a live skype across to the team on the boat. One of the most amazing and emotional experiences of my life! We watched as the waves rolled them around the Yacht and the boys telling of their experiences and their program of 2.5 hours sleep a night.
They will be celebrating Christmas together in the middle of the ocean so we all sent our love and luck and skype was signed off. With all the love in the air the Camper Australian and UK teams headed out for what Spain does best, Tapas.ohhh – emmm – geee absolutely no words to describe the deliciousness.
Day #4, last day of conference – wrapping up all the 3 days past, we discussed, eliminated, organised, structured, included and noted all things VOR & 2012. Sweaty Betty PR went home with the best Television coverage for 2012, what an award! Go team!!. The evening saw the PR teams heading into town to one of the coolest bars I have ever seen. The table was decorated in hand written name placement tags and the cutest decorated Ginger Bread biscuits with Camper shoe iced on top.
Friday Morning came and I then had to say my goodbyes and was home bound very upset I must admi. I can safely say after 4 days. I love this place and everything in it.
The Conference, the people, the meeting – everything involved made this one of the most amazing experiences of my life.
To keep track of the race and its movements follow the Camper with Emirates Team New Zealand Facebook page, be careful as you will become totally obsessed. Watch this space as I will be bringing you sneak peeks into the T75 collections MUST –HAVES!
Gracias,

Chief Betty always likes to give advice where possible but we were seriously blown away by this touching thankyou letter we recieved from Sian.
Sian, Congrats on finishing your HSC and goodluck with your studies next year.
We are sure you will be a PR success!!
Love,
The Betties Xx

Hello,
I emailed Sweaty Betty PR around this time last year asking for advice about the industry.
The information that I received personally from Roxy Jacenko about the competitiveness of the industry helped me to make a final decision on what my future career would be after I finished school this year.
Ultimately I would love have career in the same area of Public Relations as Sweaty Betty PR. I have taken the first step in achieving this, receiving an early round offer to study Bachelor of Communications (Public Relations)/Bachelor of Business Studies, at Charles Sturt University in 2012.
I would like to thank you for helping me decide that this path was right for me, and being truthful about this industry and what it takes to succeed. Hopefully I will be able to do work experience or similar with you in the future as I admire you and the achievements that you have made regarding your business.
Congratulations Roxy on your new book, I hope to read it in the New Year!
Kind Regards,
Sian Wright
