Jean-PaulGoude

The enigmatic and self proclaimed “egocentric” artist who defined an era of subversive 80′s decadence in fashion, politics and popculture is now being celebrated at the ripe old age of 70. Illustator turned photographer, tastemaker and ex lover of Grace Jones – infront and behind the lens – has ascended to cult status with his first retrospective.

SKULLS AND POISONS AND PILLS, OH MY!

Monday, October 31st, 2011

20c7ed4660368774df0f47c8c5f188184a25f9e6

On the day of Halloween I needed to blog about something somewhat scary but also creative.

The Gagosian Gallery plays host to new paintings by Damien Hirst from two series, Poisonous & Remedies running between October 11th-November 20th.

Untitled-2

In Poisons, single images of varying human skulls are silkscreened in black UV ink with charcoal onto large-scale canvases, they are then titled after a toxic chemical, suggesting possible cause of death.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a fully illustrated catalogue with an essay by the novelist Gary Shteyngart.

Just a little eeriness for your Monday Morning.

VERSACE4H&M

Monday, October 31st, 2011

It’s Monday morning and I am BEYOND excited to be blogging about the most highly anticipated designer collaboration to launch this year – Versace for H&M!

versace-x-hm-elle-uk-04

The collection includes – women’s wear, menswear, and home wares – featuring studded dresses and jackets, dangerous-looking heels, oversized costume jewelry and eye popping colours.

“And there are two things H&M has never had… Red carpet dresses and homewares. H&M asked for 25 looks, I gave them 31. I chose the best of the best, it’s like a rockstar choosing their greatest hits, and I’m not being humble right now, by the way.”  – Donatella Versace.

Versace for H&M, prices start at $30.00 for costume jewelry and rise to $300.00 for a man’s studded leather jacket. Hitting stores on November 17th, I think all Aussie fashionista’s will be hoping that H&M commit to permanent place in our shopping centre’s and if not, then it will be an expensive shopping expedition O/S!

So start saving girls, No more Monday blues with Versace for H&M!

Take a look at the collection

Coco, The Testimony of Black and White is a 35 piece exhibition which concentrates on the identity of Gabrielle Bonheur beneath her elegant tweed and public identity. Cabellut who captures Bonheur’s image is said to have been drawn to the icon through their shared ‘gypsy’ experiences and ‘against all odds’ begininng.

The exhibition which is currently being held at The Opera Gallery, Paris – 356, Rue Saint-Honore, 75001 – and will take place until the 19th of November. Definately worth a visit if your in the area. You know what they say…when in Rome Paris…

Bridget Jones’s Diary

Friday, October 28th, 2011

Today is my last day at Sweaty Betty Pr after interning here for the week, and what a week it has been!

But first let me backtrack.

I’m currently in my second year of studying public relations at RMIT, Melbourne. Wanting as much experience as possible I made the trek to Sydney to experience working at an agency with an extremely high reputation in the hopes to learn as much as possible in one short week.

As soon as I arrived on my first day I was put to work helping the showroom coordinators. All the girls here have been nothing but lovely and made settling in to work a breeze.

I began work on merchandising, processing returns, photographing clothes and filing for clients straightaway.

When I got the hang of that, more responsibilities were given to me and I helped with gift bags and was lucky to write a few blogs. I helped out with the Cleo Swimsuit Party invites and I also have pulled looks to send to various magazines. The idea that what I chose could end up in a mag is pretty exciting!

On Wednesday I went with Alena to Parramatta, as one of her clients was getting a segment on the Today show. I assisted with whatever was needed and it was great to get the chance to see how the whole process worked.

I don’t think I could have come on a better week. On Thursday Adrian Grenier aka Vinnie Chase, came into Sweaty Betty, unfortunately his entourage were not in tow. I’ve been a huge fan since I first spotted him in the teen flick and one of my personal fav ‘You Drive me Crazy’. Looking ever so dapper in his checked shirt and scarf he was friendly, charming and of course HOT! We were all in a frenzy as soon as he arrived and made sure we captured the moment.

The whole week has been fun and I have learnt so much. Roxy and the girls have been so nice and helpful. It’s been a great experience to be able to learn from PR girls that do it right!

Thanks for the week Betties!
