Museo Gucci

Gucci-Museo-468x312

In celebration of Gucci’s 90th anniversary, The Museo Gucci has opened in the Piazza della Signoria which is located right in the heart of Florence. Encased behind the walls of a 14th Century building, the museum pays homage to the icons of the past and the strong relationship that Gucci has forged with almost a century of glamazons.

museogucci

Items include Gucci’s famed “bamboo” handbags owned by fashion idols Jackie Onassis and Sofia Loren which are on permanent display; and are juxtaposed by feathery ostrich number which was worn at this year’s Academy Awards by Hilary Swank reinforcing Gucci’s influence on the past and present.

Not only is there a café serving luxe coffees but there is also a gift shop where you can pick up anything from a tourist tee to iconic leather goods. Apparently the biggest issue when creating the museum was not curating through 90 years of fashion but  whether an image of Gucci should cover up the Da Vinci fresco. I guess we’ll have to visit to find out.

CLUB QT AND THEOUTNET – A MATCH MADE IN DESIGNER HEAVEN

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

If you haven’t heard of The Outnet – where have you been, so-called fashionista??? The uber-cool cousin of designer e-boutique Net-A-Porter, The Outnet offers the best previous season fashion at up to 70% off and exclusively-made capsule collections by a selection of its designers at great value. It’s addictive, exhilirating, and kind of guilt free, or so we tell ourselves…

Whether you’re new to TheOutnet or a lifelong fan this news will excite you – Australian shopping website Club QT (www.clubqt.com.au) has added TheOutnet to its impressive roster of over 150 international fashion stores to create the ultimate luxury shopping centre online for Australian consumers. This means you can browse fashion from TheOutnet alongside a heap of other brands in one place, all converted in to Australian dollars AND you can mix your Outnet pieces up with other items in Club QT’s clever Fitting Room tool. Taking designer obsession to a whole new level!

Don’t tell the boss, but I spent a LONG time surfing TheOutnet through Club QT to find my favourite piece, and after much deliberating, I settled on these divine Alexander Wang peep toe boots. So futuristic and chic – and seriously cheap – down from $968 to $387. Yes, you read that right!

Ready, set, shop! Bargains like this don’t stay around for long. Thanks Club QT for feeding our label habit!

The 2011 Brownlow’s

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

The 2011 Brownlow’s took place last night at Melbourne’s Crown Palladium.
The Brownlow Medal is the most prestigious individual award in Australian rules football (AFL),
Though I am not going to pretend I actually take interest in this for the sport, the only reason I tune in to these sorts of events is for the Red Carpet Fashion!

As on any red carpet there are always hits and misses, wardrobe malfunctions and show-stopping moments and last night’s Brownlow’s was no exception.

Everyone’s favourite Go-to-gown designer RACHEL GILBERT, dressed a few of the WAGS in her most recent Cruise 11/12 and Spring Summer 11 collection.
Without a doubt these 4 girls were the Betties favourites from the night!

KANYE IS ‘LOVE LOCKDOWN’ OVER LEVI’S®

Monday, September 26th, 2011

Fashion royalty Kanye West is dabbling in a piece of Levi’s denim for every recent outfit it seems.
Strolling around the Hollywood scene in a pair of torn denim jeans and rocking it out on stage in his vintage style Levi’s denim jacket.

“The second i walked in the whole room got still, i don’t know how to put this, but I’m kinda a big deal” – the words of the man himself, It was the Levi’s honey!

Kanye knows style an does Levi’s denim pieces like it’s nobody’s business, can’t wait to see where he will go next with it.

Being a Betty!

Friday, September 23rd, 2011

This week I was lucky enough to join all the Betties in the office for an experience I will never forget!

Flying over from Adelaide to Sydney I found myself questioning if I would fit into the office – was I tanned enough? Smart enough or fit enough for all the running around? Were they called Sweaty Betty because of all the running around? And in that case, did I remember deodorant?

Stressed-woman

Obviously this picture isn’t of me – I didn’t have any post it notes on me at the time, but its exactly how I felt before!

Walking through the door I was greeted brightly by all the Betties in the office – everyone was very welcoming and friendly – eager to help me out with my new duties and make sure I was having lunch breaks as well as going home on time (even though to me it seemed as though they slept there).

Helping out setting up events, packing gift bags, and seeing the work that the Betties do on a regular basis gave me great insight and experience for the field I will be entering at the conclusion of my degree. Icing on the cake was that the experience was a fun and enjoyable time that couldn’t have finished on a more positive note.

Roxy and the Betties have a great work environment (did I mention the chocolate and fruit gifts?) and I am so appreciative of the time they have allowed me to experience being a Betty for a week, especially when they have as much work as they do!

The only negative part of coming to Sweaty Betty is the exposure I have had to all their brands – goodbye savings, hello wardrobe full of Rachel Gilbert!
