It’s no secret that Vittoria Coffee is the coffee of choice for the  Betties, and it’s also no secret our favourite fashion destination is The Intersection, Paddington. SO when we found out that Vittoria Coffee was giving away coffee’s to the Fashionistas @ The Intersection, Paddington on Saturday we were all over it!!

There are few things in life in which I find simple joy. Chocolate, coffee and the rain all seem to be a given but growing up with an artist father has impressed a love of art and interpretation on me.

For those of you who have not yet met me I must admit I am a bit kooky and tend to fly a bit left of centre. Every now and then when something ever so simple and strange pops up I find myself smiling stupidly at my computer screen and I am sure that by now my desk-buddy Polly is beginning to hope she is relocated during the big office move.

Today I stumbled upon the artist James Charles’s humoristic manipulation of dollar bills and I must say I smiled, giggled and then felt I had to share my joy, so here I am.

As of last year, artist James Charles has been engrossed in an interesting new project; small in scale…but large in depth. He began drawing on dollar bills, for the sake of his own amusement; crudely altering the presidents’ faces to become monsters, celebrities, etc. After accidentally spending a few of his early pieces, James decided to stop carrying them in his wallet, and started putting them inside of a magazine for safe-keeping. The magazine folder eventually became a large scrapbook, showcasing bills of all denominations. He found ink and materials to match perfectly what the U.S. Mint uses on the bank notes, and began to experiment with ways to alter the font and script along the bottom of the bills. It became the perfect way for James to inject an additional layer of wit.

Altering currency in this way also poses questions regarding the true value of paper bills, something made with seemingly insignificant materials – that somehow fuels an evershifting economy and ultimately impacts living conditions around the globe. James has put a wrench in the recirculation process by claiming his role as an artist, and declaring these specific bills are not currency, but art objects.

From Star Wars to Jimi Hendrix via politicians or pop icons, James Charles has done them all! For any international readers, James Charles is currently exhibiting at Shooting Gallery in San Fransisco.

Mercedes-Benz has revealed the all new soft-top SLS Roadster (a version of the SLS AMG.)

This newly designed masterpiece promises to be one of the most strong, effective and exclusive cars on the road.

Mercedes Benz completed the car by adding a folding fabric roof that brings wind-in-the-hair motoring in 11 seconds! Now that’s fast.

The very fancy and head-turning ‘gullwing’ doors are sadly no-more! However, the car is said to make you feel as free as a bird. (I think we can be very happy with that!)

The new Roadster includes optional electronically adjustable suspension, data-logging system and an Air scarf neck-warming technology.

Now to talk about the focus and highlight of the SLS Roadster – The three-layer fabric roof opens and/or closes automatically at the press of a button, and up to a speed of 50km/h! The roof comfortably nestles compactly behind the cabin and is available in black, red and beige.

If this isnt enough for you, Mercedes will cater just for you to please your needs and wants. As a buyer we can tick options for firmer sports suspension, carbon brakes, blind-spot assist and a Bang & Olufsen audio. Not only will you be pumping music loud, the audio system is complemented by your very own performance media system. This system provides the driver with information such as g-forces, engine performance, lap times and acceleration figures.

Now I bet you are all waiting in anticipation for this little beauty. Mercedes-Benz Australia says that the SLS Roadster will arrive in early 2012 with a price tag of approx $468,820.

Okay, so Kate Middleton is the current Brit hitting the headlines for her stunning (but safe, let’s be honest!) fashion choices, but we can reveal that another leading lady in the country packs a more exciting punch in the style stakes…

Introducing Samantha Gwendoline Cameron, british businesswoman and mature trendsetter – ‘Sam Cam’ as we Britons have affectionately nicknamed her. If you haven’t heard of Sam, it’s probably because her husband tends to dominate the news headlines; she’s married to none other than the British Prime Minister David Cameron.

She just outshone Michelle Obama at a Royal dinner party in a striking Peter Pilotto floral dress. And what did dear Sam Cam pull out of the wardrobe for the Royal Wedding? She quietly flew the flag for British fashion, wearing a green ruched Burberry dress and simple hair adornment. Gorgeous!

It helps that Sam’s sister is Emily Sheffield, deputy editor of British Vogue – but we have a feeling this style maven needs know help with finding something to wear in the morning. British politics has never been so fashionable!

As you know the Betties are absolute suckers for Herve Leger, their collections always an element of expectation but with a dash of surprise as we expect the bandage dress but they always seem to add a dash of something extra to give each new collection a different look to the previous one.

This collection was no different. As per usual, there was the iconic tight fitting dresses that just know how to hug a woman’s body and squeeze us in, in the right places. But this time, their pre-fall collection was more of the rebellious, tough woman… think armish green/ mustard yellows and of course black and we are absolutely LOVING it

I don’t think anybody needs to ask what the greatest commodity in the SB office is – SCHWARZKOPF! 

Hair touch-ups, re-do’s and styling are all apart of our daily regime – and last night, we celebrated the best of the best hair with Schwarzkopf – the completion of the Australia’s Most Beautiful Hair search. 

Industry gurus from Schwarzkopf and Napoleon, our fav hair stylists from Valonz, celebrities, media, fashion and beauty editors and of course all the Betties (everybody was there!!)  gathered at the very gorgeous SIP Bar in Potts Point to unveil the winner!

Maz and Natasha headed to the venue early to set up – perfecting the flowers, stage placement and everything Schwarzkopf for the evening.

The night started with a little light mingling – drinks and canapés for all – as the models prepared themselves to be presented to the audience.

Schwarzkopf and Napoleon Perdis had a separate room where guests could indulge in their very own Magic Hair Extensions put in by the Schwarzkopf hair expert and make-up done by the Napoleon make-up gurus! Chaotic doesn’t even begin to describe this area – the crowd loved it!!   

The night moved on with model Laura Csortan and Jackie Frank from Marie Claire hosting up a storm and introducing our finalists.

As it is with the Betties – we could never stop at something that could be considered just “good” – we went all out for this event and bought a very special guest in to perform a few songs – Ricki-Lee!! To say she is divine is an understatement!! She wowed the attendees with two songs from her latest album and lit up the stage (and our faces!) as she did it!!

As the night drew to a close the Betties were straight back to their stations.

Myself, standing at the door, fare-welling guests – I didn’t see one frown on anybody! Everybody had a great time and left with a complete selection from the Schwarzkopf Ultimate Hair Range and a few goodies from Napoleon.

A special mention must go to our Mazzy - who worked OVERTIME to make this event what it was!!
