The long awaited night had finally arrived – The Annual Cleo Bachelor of the Year Awards at the gorgeous Ivy Ballroom!! Oh what a night it was!
All Betties were in full swing from break of dawn, the day included – Running around doing daily tasks, organizing seating, guest lists, frantically packing the gorgeous gift bags and making sure everything went beyond perfect.
4pm hit and all Betties were one site in the The Ivy Ball room setting up the tables and chairs for all bachelors and guests to be comfortable during the night. The gift bags were hand picked by the finest, filled with goodies (CLEO magazine, Voodoo hosiery, Aero and Lindtt chocolates, Marc Jacobs Bang! And Lola, Fudge hair products, Benefit cosmetics, Omni Bellini White Peach cocktail.. Just to name a few!) were gently placed on the seats for all guests to enjoy.

6pm struck and Chief Betty Roxy enters The Ivy for hair and makeup. Not only does RJ have to organize the entire event but she also has to look hot! Straight from the Green Room to the Ball room RJ was set to deliver the best for CLEO. With a slight problem being announced – we were missing 9 gift bags! Roxy being the PR extraordinaire she is doesn’t react and does not waste any time, she gets down to business. Instantly on the Blackberry to CLEO, Chief Betty fixed a problem that sent us Betties into panic.
Phew, problem solved.
Everything was on track, 6:25 Guests were greeted on George St by Sydney artist Andy Steele introducing his contemporary art on to a brand new Nissan Micra, which will be auctioned in aid of Breast Cancer Network Australia. All Bachelors were now lined up (in a scattered form! Nothing could contain these hunks) on the Ball Room stairs.
Decked out in their tuxedos, suits and bow ties the Bachelors really did put Drop Dead Gorgeous to a whole new level.
As they entered the ballroom they passed through the CLEO media wall where they smiled and posed for the cameras (and may I say I had the best spot in the house! Being one of the usher’s of the Ballroom I got to speak to all Bachelors and perve! Shhh.) Ash Williams dropped his pants exposing his gold spandex Speedos, the Russian Standard Vodka Girls rushed for a photo with the rebellious Ash Williams to support his campaign.
There’s nothing these Bachelors wouldn’t do for the chance to be crowned the Bachelor of the Year.
All Bachelors not only looked like they had unleashed their inner James Bond but they were calm, cool and collected. Even Ruby Rose stuck to the Bachelor theme, turning up in a skin tight tuxedo suit with skinny tie and huge shades, outshining even some of the male bachelors in the room!

7:15 Guests and Bachelors were all mingling and sipping on their Omni White Peach Cocktails preparing for their divine sit down dinner. All Betties were smiling at this point feeling like we have reached success. Not quite. 7:30 – We still needed everyone to enjoy their dinner and cater to everyone’s needs before the unveiling of the Bachelor of the Year. All Betties scattered throughout the Ballroom during the courses, to take in the amazing event and still to perve of course! The gorgeous Sophie Monk kicked off the gourmet meal for 300 fabulous guests, with excitement stirring in the air.
8:30 arrived and RJ informed all Betties to be on standby for the announcement of the award. Being the “onto it” Betties that we are, we kindly directed everyone back to their seats (everyone was too excited and wanted to mingle all night!) The lights dimmed and pop star Miss Prinni strutted her stuff on stage with her glamazon entourage.
Prinni performed her brand new single Lion and ended with the infamous ‘Rude boy’ by Rhianna with sexy dance moves to go with.
Prinni announced at the end of the song “All my Rude Boys on stage!” All Betties stood in a fashionable line leading the Bachelors on stage. With smirks and comic responses coming from the Bachelors, Anthony “Harries” Carroll insisted he wasn’t a rude boy making us Betties giggle.

9pm – The moment has finally arrived! Drum roll please..
The bachelors were all lined up on stage ready for their future to be told.
Gemma Crisp (Editor of CLEO) announced the long awaited decision.
First Runner up to the prize was the gorgeous Home & Away actor Dan Ewing and third place was to Triple J DJ Paul Verhoeven.
Now for the ultimate suspense….. All Betties stood in awe whilst waiting.
The handsome Sydney Athlete (single may I add) Eamon Sullivan took away the prestigious crown of 2011 Bachelor of the Year Award, voted by all the lovely CLEO readers. Now officially Australia’s most eligible Bachelor, Sullivan walked away with a brand new Nissan Micra worth $15,999, presented by Cleo editor Gemma Crisp and event host and bachelorette Sophie Monk.

9:30 all guests were fluttering around the room in excitement and couldn’t wait to step into the after party at ‘The Den’ to get up and close (and maybe personal) with the Bachelors.
What a perfect night!
Job well done to all the Betties involved, Chief Betty Roxy Jacenko and the CLEO team in organizing this official event.
Being my first time working at the CLEO Bachelor of the Year Awards, I feel so grateful to be a part of such a fabulous event filled with amazing people and not to mention my beautiful Betties.
Can’t wait for what 2012 has on the horizon, until then ladies..
We wait in anticipation for the next unveiling of Bachelors!
