Who can get 15 fashion and lifestyle editors away from their desks on a Wednesday morning, dressed in training gear rather than trendy ensembles, and out in the open air even with a slight drizzle of rain?
Sweaty Betty PR can! We surprised even ourselves last week when we managed to lure some of Sydney’s busiest media contacts to the beautiful surroundings of Avalon for the launch of Williams and Mathers ‘Portland Get Fit’ toning shoes.
Yes – you heard right – shoes that tone! These ingenious style of trainers have been HUGE in the US and Williams and Mathers are brining the category to Australian shoes with Portland’s ‘Get Fit’ range of trainers, mary janes and thongs. The shoes are designed to create greater muscle activation, and the gentle, but effective, forward and backward motion of the curved sole is designed to help stimulate the body’s core stabilising muscles, and may also improve posture, reduce strain on back muscles, ankle, knee and hip joints!
And what better way to launch Portland Get Fit than a personal training session in the healthy location of Sydney’s Northern Beaches? With a guest list including editors from That’s Life, Prevention, Women’s Health, and the Sassy Bella blog, we gave everyone a real treat with a welcome from nutritionist Zoe Bingley-Pullin, presentation on Portland Get Fit from Williams and Mathers Marketing Manager Michael Higham, a training session from exercise expert Neil Russell, finished off with a delicious and nutritious breakfast courtesy of The Healthy Chef Teresa Cutter.

After the initial shock of being so far from civilisation (thankfully everyone’s Blackberry’s were working!), the guests forgot all about their daily deadlines and relaxed, chatted, and were toned while they walked in their new Portland shoes.

A big thanks to all involved – the Portland Get Fit launch was a great way to start the day.
