It’s been a long day but its finally coming to an end… We’ve been sorting out late RSVP’s, Packing 200 gift bags, organising interviews, backstage passes, attending the make-up trial and the list goes on!! And oh let’s not forget my battle with the laptop when it decided to start typing in Japanese characters!! Thank god for Iks!!

The highlight of today? Meeting the Make-Up guru himself – NAPOLEON PERDIS!!!! Roxy and I were star stuck while giving Napoleon a kiss hello. While he ran us through the different trends and looks I was gob smacked and all I could think of over and over was don’t make it obvious your staring….eeekk!! Unfortunately both Roxy and I were too nervous to get a snap with Napoleon but fingers crossed we’ll be able to get one on Monday!!

Unknown-1

But we aren’t nearly at the end yet  – tomorrow maybe a Saturday but the SBPR team will be bouncing into the showroom bright and early for a quick meeting on the day’s proceedings and then straight into packing the rest of the 400 gift bags for the big day.

FORTE CATERING AND EVENTS EVENING OF DELIGHTS

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Last night I was lucky enough to score an invitation to the Forte’s Catering event, hosted by Sarah Wilson (Sunday Life columnist, host + producer of the Lifestyle YOU channel).  The event was held at the unique Carriageworks venue in Eveleigh http://www.carriageworks.com.au/ and I must say what a perfect backdrop for this event.

From the moment we walked through the entrance I knew we were in for a special experience, the atmosphere was buzzing, the smell of the food was incredible all the while being entertained by smooth tunes provided by the DJ.

Upon entering this foodies heaven, you were provided with a customised Forte’s Catering apron to wear during the evening before embarking on your journey of enjoying many culinary delights.

There were so many amazing looking stations of food it was hard to know where to start, the sashimi, the mushrooms, the canapés, the local cheeses and let’s not forget the bar! Cocktails, Sake and lovely local wines were provided as the perfect accompaniment to the food.

Unnamed

Forte’s Catering and Events really are the masters in food artistry and events and I am completely envious of the lucky person who won the door prize! A package worth $2,000 for Forte’ to cater a function in your home with ten of your closest friends…perhaps the winner would like a new friend???

Thank you to Forte Catering & Events and Sarah Wilson for such a delightful evening.

Rachel Gilbert RAFW Preparation

Friday, April 30th, 2010

It’s only three days until RAFW begins and SBHQ is in a frenzy of all things Fashion Week! After RSVPs come through thick and fast for Rachel Gilbert’s first official runway show we finalised the guest list last night at the 11th hour and headed straight down to Miro House. For those of you who don’t know Miro is the God of Fashion Week and is the master at planning which stars/models/stylists/editors should be sat together, and of course who deserves the coveted front row seats.

Unknown

After printing out over 450 stickers with all our VIP guests names we began the arduous task of the seating plan!

Unknown-1

3 long hours later after blood, sweat and tears had gone into arguing over who was going to snap up the prime positions at the show and a few late RSVP’s later we had finally finished the plan!

Unknown-3

Rox, Amz and myself all raced back to the office to fuel back up at 8:30pm on a Tropicana salad and Diet Coke and got straight back into it.

Unknown-4

Back to this office this morning and its go, go, go…time sheets, back stage passes, gift bags, couriers, make-up trials – you name it and the dream team will be all over it.

Make sure you check the SB twitter for constant updates on the progress of the show preparations!

Bieber Mania

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Before he broke the hearts of thousands of young Australian girls by cancelling his concert last week, teen heart throb Justin Bieber took some time for fun in New Zealand. The singing sensation added daredevil to his list of crush-worthy qualities when he took a leap off the Auckland Harbour Bridge. Don’t worry ladies—he was attached to a bungee cord!!

A rockstar such as Bieber couldn’t have accomplished this feat rocking any old eyewear. Before the big jump, the Biebster was photographed sporting Arnette’s “AGENT” sunglasses in bold yellow. He may not be a special AGENT, but perhaps these aptly-named sunnies gave him that extra bit of courage needed to defy death… or at least gravity.

At any rate, this pop icon has conquered his fear of heights and the hearts of millions worldwide. We wouldn’t be surprised if guys the world over took a fashion hint. If they can’t be Justin Bieber, at least they can upgrade to AGENT status! For only $139.95, you don’t need to break the bank for this rockstar look, and this style comes in 6 hot frames!

ADORN Yourself with pure mineral goodness

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Picture 1

Goopy, messy, chemical-filled makeup is so last century! If you want the latest air-brushed look of all the Hollywood A-listers the answer lies in pure mineral makeup, and the Betties are so impressed with this one!! In fact, the majority of us refuse to go back to our old mislead makeup ways, and there is quite a buzz surrounding the latest advancement in cosmetic science.

ADORN mineral makeup is made from 100 percent pure Australian minerals which are then ground to an ultra-fine powder, containing no harmful chemicals, toxins, or synthetic fillers of any kind! This makeup has it all—weightless and breathable, water-resistant and even contains SFP 20 to prevent skin damage and nasty wrinkles!

Makeup bag essentials include ADORN’s loose foundation, bronzer and blush. But for those of us who want the whole package, ADORN has an enormous product range featuring radiant eye shadows, defining brow powders, luscious lipstick and gloss, liners and mascara. ADORN goes above and beyond with hydrating spritz, setting powder and a unique concealer trio.

Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, all of ADORN’s products are PETA-registered, vegan, and cruelty-free, never using innocent animals for testing. We love being able to have a clear conscience as we apply this flawless foundation!

So go ahead, ladies, and ADORN yourself with the best of the best like the Betties have!

The hybrid era has begun at Porsche with the unveiling of their 918 Sypder.

The super car has been tipped to go on sale as the flagship of the sports car maker’s range, costing a cool $1 million plus! The Porsche 918 Spyder is powered by a hybrid drivetrain that delivers almost as much power as a modern Formula One car, accelerating the two-seat drop-top to 100km/h in 3.2 seconds on the way to a top speed of 320km/h.

Unknown-1

Despite its explosive performance the Porsche 918 Spyder is claimed to use an average of 3.0 litres of fuel per 100km, or 23 per cent less than the Toyota Prius.
For a car that sounds so easy it promises SO much. You can rest assure that this baby will be on the top our wish lists!!

Cheeky Cheki

When Polaroid stopped making their iconic instant cameras over a year ago, cool kids the world over were heartbroken. But fear not hipsters, the Betties have finally found just the thing to mend your broken hearts and channel your creative energy!

The Cheki, from Fujifilm, is an adorable little camera that pops out pictures about the size of a credit card. Not only is the camera cuter than its Pola-cousin, but it pops out fashionably size-zero pics too.

D款

Many of the cameras are equipped with an intelligent flash, close-up lens and self-shoot mirror (for a chic update of the ubiquitous Facebook self-portrait, of course). If you’re lucky, you may even find film packs with decorative Hello Kitty, Disney, or Fafi borders. Whether documenting today’s outfit or tonight’s quirky memories, Cheki is the perefect tool for an instant print. So wipe those tears, and get to snapping!

SIX is the New FIVE! Well according to me today!

Flowers1

Wow – today is THE DAY! It’s been a while since I have done a blog, not because I don’t want to but because there literally isn’t a second to even stop, take a breath, come up with something witty and at the same time, reply to one of 300 emails a day on my screen, scream out to a courier who decides to pile garment bags on the floor when he cant be bothered making 5 trips to the car or nag Laurz that the fridge needs the water to be restacked, perhaps in between all this I’ll be reading up on the latest Converse range or the new ‘GalPal’ strap on without the strap on from another client…… or talking about a bra that will make your boobs look 3 times the size! (I swear by them – wear one every day hahaha YEAH)

So why the 6th celebration – its not the average 1 year, 5 year or 10 year milestone but in between multi-tasking I thought it was time (it took me 6 years to think of it) to consider leaving our desks pre midnight and take the time to thank everyone that has taken us to where we are today 12.58pm, Thursday 22nd April 2010. Theres been court cases, touch parking incidents, boyfriends lost, drastic haircuts and colours in moments of insanity, a host of brands that I would never thought would be within our reach and a few (well more than a few) staffing disasters BUT we did it, oh and who could forget the neurofen plus carry on, calming I thought it was (4 tablets at a time kinda stuff and daily – SMART?!) and a way of powering through the days in true Boiler Room (the movie) style until it left me in an ambulance with my mum insisting I put on the hotel slippers she has bagged on her last trip O/S – Please I am happy with a chanel ballet flat!

Sweaty Betty PR has grown in to the unstoppable monster and its something I would never ever thought was achievable, as the student who excelled in ticking every seldom column (and not much else other than ‘talks to much and is disruptive) on her report card – received 14/100 in maths for the HSC and got turfed from school in year ten – I am so proud of where we are today – and its thanks to my amazing amazing team – these girls work harder and under more pressure than anyone could ever dream of, they treat the business as their own and because of this we have made our mark and continue to do so daily with every new client that knocks on the door. The Magazine, Newspaper, Radio, TV, Bloggers – (and here goes my Oscars speech) without your backing since the days I opened with 4 racks and an office with just ME we are where we are today because you took me under your wing and backed me, I couldn’t even properly formulate a release but you saw I had the hunger, the passion and the Drive to make it happen so – you looked after me and took RJ from 1 man band to 20 strong with over a 100 local and international brands – THANK YOU.

Our clients – wow ! I cannot believe it…….. You trusted me  – and I was a 24 year old kid with 4 months PR experience….. WOW it was a gamble (as I pitched I even trembled and heaven forbid you would want to shake my hand, it was dripping with nervous sweat) but we did it!!!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

BT – I am sad that you aren’t here to read this and I have a tear as I write, you were my ‘anchor tenant’ what Woolworths is to Lowy we would say…..from the day I told you I had a wild idea of opening a PR business. You gave me the brands that I dreamt about – Von Dutch, Dolce & Gabbana, Diane Von Furstenberg to name but a few in my first week of opening the ‘doors’ and because of this it gave other brands confidence I was the girl for them. I’ll never forget it. Thank YOU

Mum and Dad – you backed me, told me if it didn’t work (over Alexandria Chinese) that I could always just go and get a job again – you gave me the confidence to not think about all the what if it didn’t work and just get on with it…….

There’s been fast cars, houses bought, indulgences like Chanel Jackets and perhaps even a BALMAIN number – all in all, the most rewarding part, walking in and watching the team and business evolve and know that we did it as a team …..not me all of us together with devotion and hunger like I have never seen before………

So, now best get back to my 307 emails awaiting reply, scream out to someone, stuff the remaining 2000 RAFW invites that are screaming my name and prepare for 2, 3, 4, 6 tequila’s and a burrito this evening (yes ill indulge, tonight only and probably just ½) but I’ll try it at least in good spirit……..

Thank You to everyone who has taken us to 6 – and we shall be sure to have another soiree at 10!!!!!!!! Maybe a gold watch might be in order – remember Amy what I said yesterday – if you get to 31 years with me ill sort you out a Bentley, 10 years – a gold watch?! Hahaha

Love Thanks and OMFG I am the luckiest girl alive!

THE haircut of the moment

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

haircut550

There have been many haircuts and styles come and go through the fashion world- the bob, the Posh bob, the plait, balayage, braiding, the Jennifer Anniston  look, pink streaks a la Abbey Lee Kershaw and the list goes on!!

However, all of these are in the past and the latest cut to get is the “Freya”.

The Freya consists of two parts bob, one part mullet. It also flaunts a slightly shorter than expected fringe and we are dying over this edgy look!
