The first official flight of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG begins this week, and the Betties are faced with mixed emotions as it will not reach cruising altitude until production reaches top gear next year!! You could catch a preview on the opening day of the Frankfurt Motor Show in a fortnight; however as us Betties will be working away we will be unable to attend – nevertheless we will eagerly await the snaps that come out from the day!

The German supercar is already confirmed with a soaring price tag beyond $500,000 !!! We figure it’s a small price to pay for the PERFECT accessory!

The obvious highlight that’s wow-ing us is the upward-opening ‘gullwing’ doors that – like the front-end styling – take their inspiration from the classic Mercedes SL coupe of the 1950s. But the 21st century gullwing is a thoroughly modern machine with an aluminium space-frame body, a 420 kiloWatt V8 engine set just ahead of the two-seater cabin, 19-inch front and 20-inch rear alloys, and AMG’s first seven-speed dual-clutch manu-matic transmission.

Needless to say we are all weak at the knees at the thought of having one of these babies parked in our driveways although this dream is a very distant reality. The best we can do is try and talk chef Betty into making an investment!!

Creatively named by the Betty with all the words, Aimes, the Warf (watch-scarf) has proven a nifty accessory here in the office.

Intended to be purely wrist candy – we have found the Warf to have no limits! and if we haven’t started a trend we have proven one thing – blondes (and black patent Luella bags for that matter) do look dashing in a bit of blue and green silk!

Whilst us trendsetters have found five different ways to wear it – I suggest you keep it casual cool and on the wrist!

The Betties eyes popped out this morning with the news of Balmain and Oliver Peoples collaborating to make sunglasses!!

Creative director Christophe Decarnin has shown himself to be a master at sussing out what every girl wants, and we’ve got a feeling these shades will be no exception. The unisex Balmain/OP sunglasses hit stores in America this March. A bit of related news that probably won’t ease the wait: Balmain’s also working on a Blue Label apparel collection, with items running 40 to 50% cheaper than those in the main line.

Why do we get the feeling that this will just encourage fans to buy twice as much?!

The sunglasses collection will be super limited and a one time only delivery. They will cost you around US$595.00.

For the last few months since I’ve been a Sweaty Betty intern I’ve dived head first into a crazy pool of fashion, fun & deadlines!

I’ve been popping into Betty HQ once a week to give the hardworking Betty’s a hand and treat myself to a peep around their showroom. With enough clothes to rival the contents of Carrie Bradshaw’s it can be crazy busy at times, as the intern family file, restock, return, write and goggle over the latest goodies.

Today I say Bye Bye to Sweaty Betty and hello to my fourth year as a Sydney Uni student.  I’ve had such a ball here, as no day has been anything like the one before. One minute I’m sourcing accessories for a Gossip Girl themed photoshoot and the next I’m composing a news snippet on a bathroom sex toy. I’m guessing this years Uni assignments aren’t going to be as fun.

Thanks to Roxy and all the girls for giving me this amazing opportunity to learn so much. Whenever I see a Courier being weighed down by a million big white plastic bags I’ll think of you all.

It was all glamour behind the scenes at today’s Diva accessories photo shoot. The Betty’s got a chance to check out the action (and the legs on the amazing model – jealous!!) as stylists and photographers perfected shots of the fun and funky jewelry. There was a very 50s romantic feel on set with layers of pearls, red matte lips, and a vintage inspired wardrobe selection.

We watched on as the stylist and assistant piled on ensembles of Diva necklaces, bracelets and stunning cocktail rings proving a girl can never have too much jewelry.

Now back at my desk and wishing I had a personal team of perfectionists working on me every day!  Sighhhh.

If us Betties were named according to our tastes, I’d definitely be ‘Music Betty’ – if there’s a festival/gig/rave/DJ session I’ll be there with bells on, I get up at crazy hours in the morning to be the first to buy tickets, I’m having an affair with my iPod and I’m the one singing along to the Killers at my desk at 8.30 in the morning!

So this week is officially one of my best – Big Day Out Festival on Sunday with a whole host of my favourite artists, a secret Florence and the Machine gig on Sunday which I’m praying I get tickets for, and last night I was lucky enough to bag a ticket to the first Rolling Stone Awards at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory.

Roxy, me, Lyn and our boys all hit the venue, dodging the flashbulbs (not aimed at us unfortunately – but they zoomed in on Roxy looking HOT in her Sass & Bide ensemble !) and hitting the bar to scout out the faces. I was in my element – dwarfed by Andy from Groove Armada on one side, checking out Erica Heynatz on the other side, we all got stuck into the Pomegranate cocktails and bounced to the ‘alternative’ beats as the VIP guests were snapped by the paparazzi.

The roll call of names was impressive – Eskimo Joe, the Channel V team, Passion Pit, Bridezilla, Sarah Blasko (we shared a ‘stuck in the toilet’ moment – a major highlight of my night), Powderfinger, Jess from the Veronicas – and we all had a good swoon at Jay Lyon looking suitably rockstar with his crumpled black tee and messy hair!

Awards themselves were short and sweet and most of our party retired early doors – it was a school night after all! Josh and I were determined to mingle with the celebs a little longer and stuck around – and good job we did, because at around 10pm the one and only Peaches entered the building with two burlesque dancers, for an impromptu DJ set! Unfortunately the ‘oh so hip’ crowd clearly didn’t know how to enjoy themselves as the dancefloor was empty, but we made the most of it and danced up a sweat with Peaches egging us on and posing for photos, while her dancers performed a very risqué burlesque routine with whipped cream, huge feathers and some naughty implements that are far too X-rated for this blog. Well worth waiting for!

We headed home laden down with fab goody bags, leaving our cab driver with some goodies as a tip! Now, just need to make sure I have a quiet one this evening ready for Big Day Out tomorrow…and you guessed it, we’ll be right at the front for Peaches set!

The Betties almost fell off our chairs when we discovered Amanda Assad Mounser a New York-based Jewelry designer, who debuted her premiere collection Assad Mounser for Autum/Winter 09 last year. And now it’s no surprise we are all lusting over her new spring 2010 collection – ‘Space Oddity’.

Materials such as agate slices, amethyst chunks, and bold almost neon polished stones are combined with silver punk rock spikes as well as layers of chain and crystal to bring forth a silhouette that feels like the prize possession of a space warrior!

Assad has been featured in Vogue UK, Purple Magazine, Harpers Bazzare, Numero Tokyo and numerous other ‘Fashion Bibles’!!

Its safe to say our new favorite Spiked, neon chains will be coming direct from Assad Mounser. We LOVE your punk rock amethyst chained creations!!
