MANAGEABLE GORGEOUS SLINKY HAIR

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Leading hairstylist, Pierre Haddad is one of the leaders in the art of Latino Hair Straightening a technique that creates effortlessly sleek, manageable, conditioned and luxurious hair instantly.

Unlike other products available in the market, the protein treatment straightens the hair without damaging or changing its texture creating gorgeous, sexy, sleek hair all season long.

The treatment can be use in all hair types, including chemically treated hair (coloured, permed, relaxed, highlighted and bleached). It is excellent for eradicating curly, frizzy, damaged, unhealthy, dull and mistreated hair.

The Latino Protein treatment is not permanent, it naturally fades out of the hair. The wave or curl will gradually come back in about two to four months. The hair will stay soft, shiny and healthy looking and the more frequently you apply the treatment the healthier the hair becomes.

Latino Hair Straightening works on fine, wavy, and curly hair.  Essentially, the treatment strengthens the hair, so coloured hair will look less processed with fewer breakages.

Pierre’s lastest headquarters are at The Hilton Hotel, Salon 4/ 255 Pittt Street, Sydney. A VISIT IS A MUST

The HOT launch of Australia’s next top model

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

The launch of Australia’s next top model was celebrated in true Fashion Week worthy style last night, with a top party for a top show – and we were lucky enough to score tickets. Hosted by 2DAYFM at Sydney hotspot The Loft, the cocktails flowed, the crowd was hot and the parade showcasing this years contestants was nothing short of AMAZING!

Rachel Gilbert and House of Harlow 1960 were the toasts of the night with everyone from the beautiful girls on the door to Mobsey, one half of the super talented duo holding court on stage last night, decked out in chiffon and sequins and the fabulous House of Harlow 1960 jewellery complimenting the dresses perfectly. Not to mention that Rachel Gilbert dominated on the runway last night, her pieces draped flawlessly on the contestants who sauntered down the runway with ease and surprisingly – like pro’s.

We say this with surprise because we were also treated to a viewing of the first episode of ANTM – and well as Charlotte Dawson promised we would, we laughed. The girls had obviously had some rigorous runway training before last night, with their first attempts on the runway, as shown on the first episode, a little dismal (to be kind)! Nevertheless they smashed up the runway last night in true supermodel style which left us thinking – is there really only going to be one winner????

We look forward to watching the rest of the series and finding out who will BE Australias Next top MODEL?

THE WEIGHT OF SILENCE…

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

I’m a big fan of chick lit. An even bigger fan of crime fiction. It’s the escape, the fantasy, the ability to relate my own life to the goings on in the book (only chick lit relevant here)! So it’s not often a book that does not fall into either of these genres completely blows me away; and has me recommending it to anyone who will listen.

The Weight of Silence by Catherine Therese is just that book.

A powerful and moving memoir, The Weight of Silence tells the story of a girl growing up and the journey of finding herself; but without the cliches- of being born into an alcoholic household, of finding a childhood language to speak that others understand, of the importance of remembering, of a girl becoming a mother when she’s still a child herself. Of heart break and heart ache and the many thoughts we probably think; but never usually say.

Written in a way I can only describe as descriptively poetic (or is that phrase redundant?)- It is certainly one of the most potent books I can remember reading.

The author, Catherine Therese, will be a guest at The Sydney Writer’s Festival on Saturday 23 May at Bangarra Mezzanine in Walsh Bay where she will make her debut and launch her book. MIX IT UP!

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

In only a few short episodes, Master Chef (http://www.masterchef.com.au/home.htm) has fast become my new TV show (move over Law & Order..!). You can only imagine my excitment when I received an invitation to the Master Chef Cafe this morning; hosted by one of our favourite radio stations- Mix 106.5FM.

And no, it wasn’t JUST the excitment of getting the chance to meet Sonia Kruger and Todd McKenney (Dancing with the Stars is another of my tv faves); but also the opportunity to taste dishes inspired by the show and meet the Master Chef stars. I am office foody after all…

An early start; fellow Betty- Sophie, and myself, met at 7am this morning and headed to the Mix Master Chef Cafe in East Sydney. With the cafe already buzzing with excitmenet, Sophie and I had got to meet the always-fabulous Mix 106.5 team, watch the listener ‘Cook-Off’ ($15 budget and only a few short minutes to prepare a tasty meal- winner: Nachos!); and most importantly; taste the gorgeous breakfast on offer. I went with Todd’s Tasty Breakfast and Sophie decided on the Master Chef Veggie Delight. YUM!

Broadcasting live 5.30am to 9am daily – tune into Mornings with Sonia Kruger and Todd McKenney on Mix 106.5FM this week, for your chance to win a visit to the Mix Master Chef Cafe.

bat your eyelashes girls!

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

Ever been caught in a sticky social situation? Not sure who does what, when or how to graciously decline an event invite?

I have found myself in many a social predicament through the years and have often wished I had a little bird on my shoulder telling me which fork to use, what to say to your long time hairdresser who has lost their touch and the all elusive MAN questions….. Who pays for the meal?

Is it okay to hold the door for your BF?

If you are suffering as I am with today’s new set of social rules; because lets face it girls life today has progressed from high teas and Jane Austin-esque social satire; then I have just the thing to eliminate awkward situations and embarrassing moments. “Bat your Eyelashes – how to be well manners with style” is a little gem of a book that covers everything from everyday courtesies – mobile manners, who pays the bill on a date, taboo topics to avoid, to how to get a pay rise

and advice for pooches that dine out.

To quote the author, Marianne Vicelich, “a small amount of consideration in life gains a massive amount of gratitude, so bat your eyelashes and make life on earth a better place.” And we couldn’t agree more!

Retailing for $34.95 this novel is all you will need to take the world by confidence and in style.

The Sartorialist Photographer Extraordinaire

Friday, April 24th, 2009

The long awaited photographer extraordinaire ‘The Sartorialist’ aka Scott Schuman has landed here on Australian shores and his first stop the exquisite and intricate streets of Melbourne.

He is famous for his photography of capturing ordinary people wearing good clothes “in a good way.” His street style blog entitled The Sartorialist captures the streets of London, Milan, Paris and New York and he has now decided to come to Sydney for Rosemount Australian Fashion Week!! ‘The Sartorialist’ was voted by Time magazine one of it’s Top 100 Design Influencers and Schuman had barely been snapping for six months.

“I started The Sartorialist simply share photos of people that I saw on the streets of New York that I thought looked great” and now he has influenced people all over the world and changed the thoughts and attitudes of the fashion industry. The Sartorialist has now become a MUST read for anyone in the fashion industry whether you are a journalist, stylist, photographer, sales agent or publicist. His photos capturing different, fascinating and intriguing people with just the click of his camera. Even one of our favourite stylists Christine Centenera was shot at Paris Fashion week, which we were very proud of!!

As he graces us with his presence this Monday at RAFW I am sure that everyone will be pulling out their best ensembles. In hope that they could be the lucky one to be snapped by The Sartorialist www.thesartorialist.blogspot.com
