Meet The New Beckham-Jacenko’s

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Exactly a month ago today Rox ran into the office with a new clothing crush – refer to blog post dated 27th January. Our mission was to source and capture.

Now, here at Sweaty Betty HQ we rarely fail when given a mission. We like to band together, problem solve, hold each others’ hands – whatever it takes to get the job done. It’s all about the teamwork. This morning we realized however that no amount of joint action was going to convince Victoria Beckham to run back into her design studio and knock us up another one of her super sleek and obviously coveted, due to their sold out status, Bidart Tailored Dresses.

We are not sure how it happened, or why net-a-porter is letting us down in our time of need. What we do know is that the weekend is but a few hours away, we are minus one body-hugging red dress and have gained a big red Cross next to our names. We have failed.

In the spirit of getting things done we found a way for Rox to wear the dress

and save her $$$$$ too!!

Oh and I should mention that Chief Betty was a little shy to appear– only with

David Beckham by her side could she brave it! Looks like Rox did a little

“source and capture” of her own!

ZANEROBE MAKES A SPLASH AT IVY POOL X

ZANEROBE MAKES A SPLASH AT IVY POOL

Stage is set for Australian streetwear label’s Spring/Summer 2009 preview

Celebrities, musicians, models, fashion critics, and Sydney’s A-list will flock to the exclusive Ivy Pool next Thursday (5 March) to soak up ZANEROBE’s Spring/Summer 2009 runway show.

The edgy homegrown label is throwing a sexy beach party to celebrate its latest collection, transforming the decadent Ivy Pool into ZANEROBE Island, a homage to all things retro, a melting pot of vintage fashion, classic cocktails, and pounding dance beats.

VIP guests have each received a ZANEROBE Villa Key granting them access to the beach party, which doubles up as a bottle opener and is inscribed with their seat location for the event. The runway show kicks off at 7pm, with a spectacular stunt staged around the pool area and a parade of hot models sashaying down the runway giving the very first preview of ZANEROBE’s brand new collection.

Every A-list demand will be catered for – after the show guests will indulge in the finest cocktails, specially designed by the Ivy team for this event, delicious canapés from Ivy’s Uccelllo Italian restaurant, and receive complementary manicures from the OPI Nail Bar. Sydney’s finest DJs will ensure the party gets into full swing, with after-show tunes to get the glamorous crowd on their feet and dancing until the early hours.

ZANEROBE’s cutting edge streetwear has taken Australia and the world by storm. The legendary South American boxing match of Gomez v Gonzaga inspired the latest men’s collection – designer Jonathan Yeo has created a range of vintage sportswear with the theme of endeavour and hope, refreshingly devoid of pretention and reflecting the ‘no worries’ Australian culture.

ZANEROBE ladies will be channelling bathing beauties of the 1920s this season with ‘The Girls of La Roquille’, a tribute to the cheeky, playful, sexy yet strong heroines of days gone by. Casual but contemporary pieces will be adored by the everyday woman, with outfits to suit the demands of a modern woman’s life.

The ZANEROBE Spring/Summer 2009 fashion show is sponsored by RM Williams, Fraser Motorcycles, Peroni, OPI Nail Laquer, The Fordham Company, Merivale, Dermalogica, Babicka Vodka, Converse, Fake Bake and Formula 10.0.6.

Super Travels!

Friday, February 27th, 2009

This weekend sees the last days of summer – one person who is not going to be feeling the effects of the soon to be chill is a Betties fav, Jason Dundas.

Spotted recently on the white-sandy beaches of Rio, filming an episode of Getaway, Dundas looked the part in his Retrosuperfuture shades, check boardies and a hot tan!

A week prior to his Brazilian jaunt the Sydney ‘It Boy’ was sporting the very same Sky Blue SUPERS at Rushcutters Bay during an OK! shoot.

We heart Jason Dundas,

He hearts SUPER!

DARREN AND MAZ ROCK OUT IN STUSSY & SACHI

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Not a day goes by when we don’t flick through the pages of our favourite weekly magazines and get SUPER excited when we spot a celeb sporting an item of clothing or accessory that they have borrowed from us or that we have sent them – the words ‘career highlight’ spring immediately to mind!

Well only hours ago I had one of these very moments; when I spotted pics of two of MTV’s most popular hosts getting about in two brands I hold very near, and very dear to my heart- Stussy and Sachi! See Maz Compton rocking a pair of this season’s Sachi ‘Lara’ heels (available for $219.95) and Darren McMullen in a personal favourite of mine- the Stussy ‘Saint Stussy’ Tee (available for $49.95). Where were they showing off these fine items, you ask? The MTV Australia Awards Nominations Ceremony.

Check out the Vodafone MTV Australia Awards 2009 Red Carpet on MTV, Friday 27th March 7.30pm; and 8.30pm for the main show. For more info go to www.mtv.com.au/vodafonemtvawards

A frozen 99.4% fat free treat – almost unheard of!

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Most girls dream of having their cake and eating it too, well now you can and not even worry about it.

The latest healthy eating concept to Australia is Igloo Zoo, serving what they call “super-chilled yoghurt” – not completely frozen but very very cold!

Igloo Zoo’s super-chilled yoghurts, including original, pomegranate and green tea flavors are made with real yoghurt that is 99.4% fat-free (YES GIRLS YOU HEARD ME – 99.4%!) and as an added bonus are high in antioxidants. What more could one ask for in a frozen treat?

Every visit is different at Igloo Zoo, you can combined your choice of yoghurt with over 50 toppings. One of my personal favorites is original yoghurt, chocolate covered goji berries, organic white chocolate shavings and strawberry (perhaps defeating the purpose of the fat free treat).

Igloo Zoo ensures you are spoilt for choice – they have the arctic Igloo Crunch or the signature Igloo Blend, which allows you to create your own personalised dish. The choice is yours, weather you take the healthy option or not is up to you.

Yoghurt is classed as a breakfast food isn’t it? From now on you will find me at the Bondi store for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

THE SEASON OF THE BOAT SHOE

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

Less is more in the world of men’s fashion this season, according to hip lifestyle portal The Vine.

The technicolour hoodies and fluoro skinnies are out, to be replaced by plain coloured tees, chinos, and key pieces that work with the rest of the wardrobe. And the top pick for footwear? The humble boat shoe, once favoured only by fishermen and sailors, but now a key casual look for every man about town.

The Vine’s pick of the best is Sperry – the footwear brands’ famous top-sider was created in 1935 by Paul Sperry and is still a firm favourite today. Visit www.sperrytopsider.com for more details.
